7.30.16 Hillary Clinton drive-by, bugs and caterpillars

Today I found a use for that extra 25' drinking water hose I have lying around.

Dedicated porch hose

While I was taking pictures of Anna's Promise from the cover of the porch while it rained, what I believe to be Hillary Clinton's motorcade went past my house. She's in town for a rally today.

Found a yellow striped army moth caterpillar inside one of the floating rows, but had expected to find caterpillars since I knew I probably missed some eggs.

7.29.16 Floating row covers, orange sulphur, rose pics

Put up floating row covers to try to manage the leaf hoppers and cabbage butterflies.
Took some photos of Anna's Promise grandilfora.
Photographed a yellow butterfly and identified it as Colias eurytheme - Orange Sulphur.

7.27.16 Butterflies and larvae

Almost broke my toe today so I couldn't take any pictures of the silver-spotted skipper in my garden, but here's a photo I found online:

Silver spotted skipper - epargyeus clarus

I could not find any information to make me believe that I would need to keep these away from my garden. common name:
silver-spotted skipper

We purchased a couple of butterfly nets at ToyRUs to deal with these cabbage butterflies (see photo below). They are already laying eggs on the seedlings. They look like tiny yellow pillars. I've been rubbing them off by hand. Will take photos at some point. Also have been removing their larva from broccoli (very small, very green, blend right into the underside of the leaf - likes to hide along the veins of a leaf).

Cabbage butterfly - pieris rapae
Removed some larvae from the rosebushes today. I believe they were cabbage butterfly but not sure. It was pretty shady when I found and killed them.

Photo of what I believe to be cabbage butterfly caterpillars shortly after hatching:
